And to think I spent most of my unlife determined to be separated from that rotted cancer of a thing. I wonder how many saw the creature, however? He is only able to be seen by those pure of heart and soul. Or purified.

A great influx of people, it would seem. It always seems to happen over the span of three days, does it not? I wonder if there is a reason. Perhaps the barriers between worlds are weakened then?

Ah, I do not claim to know.

[The voice which speaks fills up the mind. While one hears it, it is impossible to imagine hearing anything else. It is powerful, ancient, heard through the bones and the very soul.]

Raziel.

What do you gain by this foolish defiance? You are my soul reaver, my angel of death. Return, my wayward child, and cease these messaniac delusions. I am the hub of the wheel, Raziel. I am eternity.

I am your destiny.

I confess the sound of the mountain lion, should that be what it was, was a rather more pleasant thing to hear than the calls of those last night. For a moment, I had thought myself once more in the realm of my old benefactor. The amount of souls there who knew my name was mildly disconcerting at first, but they all were cycled through that monster.

I confess I found it strange to have Xemnas call my name. What part of his empty soul did he call for, I wonder? Surely he would not have missed it. I am more surprised that the young wolf was not calling for his. Still, I suppose he screamed enough on the wind.

[Raziel sounds mildly interested.]

Would not that bastard's staff halt these shadows in their path? Perhaps it could even force some form of control over them - Moebius seemed to have some himself.

I would like to see this Jenova these prophets speak of. On that note, however, I wonder if these prophets have even seen their so-called goddess. The last devout prophet I knew lived all his life worshipping a giant squid. The look on his face as his eyes were opened is a memory I shall cherish forever.

If there is one positive aspect of this blighted plain, then it is that I do not have to listen to the voice of that voracious parasite. Hearing it again makes the silence all the sweeter.

[He snorts.]

Vae Victus.
